It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles 'Charlie' Alfred Williamson. Charlie was born on July 6, 1969, and passed away on Friday, December 20th, 2024, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, TX, at the age of 55. He was a Methodist by faith and a beloved father, son, husband, brother, son-in-law, and friend to many.
Charlie graduated from Palestine High School, then the University of Texas at Tyler, and ultimately worked and retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. More recently, Charlie worked for Recana Staffing Solutions, served as the Rusk County Republican Party Chair from 2012 to 2024, and was an avid Longhorn fan. Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Allison Plunkett Williamson, his brother, Casey Williamson, as well as his grandparents. Charlie is survived by his two greatest blessings, James 'Jay' Williamson and Jenna Kathryn Williamson, who reside in Austin, TX. He is also survived by his parents, J.C. and Shirley Quick Williamson of Palestine, TX, his father and mother-in-law, Bill and Sarah Plunkett, stepson William Plunkett, and stepdaughter Evie Plunkett, all of Longview, TX, as well as brother-in-law Logan Plunkett of Dallas, TX. Charlie is survived by uncles, aunts, cousins, and many close friends.
Charlie will be deeply missed, and his memory lives on in the hearts of his loved ones and those who had the privilege of knowing him. Charlie was a lifelong supporter of law enforcement, and the Gregg County Sheriff's Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Visitation for Charlie will be Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1:00pm at the Rader Funeral Home in Longview, TX. A graveside service will follow at Stewart Cemetery, at 3:00pm, FM 782, Rusk County, TX.
Hospice of East Texas provided excellent care to Charlie, and In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd Tyler, TX 75701.
