Charles L. "Duffy" Winek Jr. Obituary WINEK, Charles Leone Jr. (aka "Duffy")
On Sunday, August 3, 2025, Age 62, of Gibsonia, PA. Husband of 31.9 years to Mary Therese; father of Charles III, Zachery, and Joshua. He is also survived by sister Tracey, brother Michael (Rebecca) and Mary's siblings Cheryl Straub (Tom), Pam Jesberger (Tom), David Erich (Diane), Mike Erich (Jessie), Cindy Erich, and Tricia Ryan (Sean), and father in law and mother in law Tom and Eileen Erich. Beloved uncle of many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He had several aliases but most called him "Duffy." Some called him Fritzo MFC. Nobody called him Charles or Chuck. One time he was called Euffy. Duffy was born on February 13, 1963, son to the late Mary Helen Winek and late Charles L. Winek. He attended Hampton High School where he had successful careers in basketball and track. Despite his track experience, later in life, he was soundly defeated in a foot race by his younger, and less athletic brother. He earned a B.S. degree in Pharmacy from Duquesne in 1986, and a M.S. degree from Duquesne in 1990. He worked in a toxicology lab for several years and then worked as a pharmacist at CVS. He liked his job.
Duffy was a big sports fan and especially youth sports. He was a baseball coach with the Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs as well as Hampton youth baseball. He coached youth basketball at St. Ursula and later at St. Catherine. Duffy was a collector of baseball cards and other trading cards. He actually was a collector of a lot of stuff, most of which was junk. He loved flea markets and yard sales.
Duffy was a fitness fanatic. He religiously walked every day. He biked, he kayaked, he water-skied, and he swam. He ran in the Pittsburgh marathon as a younger man. He was no good at golf.
Duffy lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed every day he had exercising, spending time with his family, sorting baseball cards, and collecting junk. The one thing that he loved more than anything was his wife, Mary. He adored her and would have been lost without her. He will be missed.
