Charles H. Woltjen, of Philadelphia, passed away on January 9th, 2025, at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of 62 years of Kathleen (nee McMenamin); devoted father of Dawn Kreppel (Richard), Charles Woltjen (Lisa), and Todd Woltjen (Robyn); loving grandfather of Ryan, Nicolette, Christopher, Jamie, and Isaac; and proud great-grandfather of James.
Charles was born in Philadelphia to Charles and Alwilda Woltjen. He graduated from Drexel University School of Engineering and had a successful career in Civil Engineering. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy as part of the Seabees, the Naval Construction Battalions.
Charles cherished time spent with his family and particularly enjoyed relaxing with a gin and tonic in Cape May, where he and his wife had a home for the last 27 years. A passionate history buff, he also enjoyed target shooting and had a deep love for his cats. Charles was a talented painter and craftsman, and his quick wit and sense of humor will be dearly missed.
Family and friends are invited to Charles' Life Celebration on Wednesday, January 15th, from 5 – 7 PM at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154. A memorial service will follow at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charles' name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
