Obituary of Charles E Wood
Charles (Chuck) E. Wood, aged 57, passed away on May 22nd, 2025 in Chanhassen, MN. He was born December 22nd, 1967 to Charles and Ann Wood (Luedtke) in Minneapolis MN.
Chuck grew up on a farm outside of New Prague, MN, where he enjoyed helping his dad and brother during fall harvest. He graduated from New Prague High School in 1986. Chuck attended the University of Minnesota and graduated top of his class with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1991. With the help of his brother, Greg, Chuck earned his private pilot's license. He went on to achieve a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard University in 1995.
After graduating, Chuck returned to his true passion of engineering, where he spent the last 15 years employed at Olympus in Brooklyn Park. Chuck married Pam Wood (Witkewics) on July, 24th 1993 and the two would go on to build a beautiful family of three girls; Melissa, Natalie and Olivia.
His family was the light of his life and he was the light of theirs. He loved traveling, learning, and experiencing life alongside those he loved most. There was no project on the automotive or home front too large for him and his sidekick Olivia to tackle. Chuck was an avid Minnesota sports fan. He was funny and giving. He loved deeply and was deeply loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ann Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Pam Wood of Eden Prairie, MN, his three daughters Melissa, Natalie and Olivia of Minneapolis, MN, Gwen Wood of New Prague, MN, Greg and Christie Wood of Howard Lake, MN, Graham Wood of Jordan, MN and Gretchen and Chuck Wessel of New Prague, MN, as well as his loving nephew, nieces, and in-laws.

Chuck was a classmate of mine at Harvard Business School and a kind and helpful soul. I carry wonderful memories of times we shared in Boston, and I pray that Chuck's family will find comfort and peace in knowing Chuck made a difference in life.

Chuck was one of my best friends senior year in high school, doing all our advanced math and physics together. And we got together monthly almost monthly until he left for Harvard. Then life happened and we lost contact. I am so saddened by his passing. Can anyone share with me what happened? We are too young for this.

Now idea how I found this online, but I have some very found memories of Chuck and his sister Gretchen and their cousin Kent (my neighbor). Running around the pool, laughing and making silly voices into my tape recorder and more. Sorry for your loss.

I am sure I have some funny pictures in buried boxes of the fun times. - Sandy McManus (Johnson)

I am devastated to hear the passing of Chuck.
I had the honor and pleasure of working with Chuck at Olympus, for quite some years. Every day was a fun day with Chuck !!!.

He was an extremely talented engineer, and in so many disciplines. But more importantly he was fun to be around, always wanting to assist his coworkers improve and hone their skills. He was loved by all the people he worked with, and will be greatly missed.

My condolences to Pam, the girls and his extended family.
Sincerely
Alan Langworthy

I'm so unbelievably sorry for your loss. One of my favorite memories of Chuck is from when he was helping me change my oil and transmission fluid in my car. As he was teaching me how to do it, he would absentmindedly start every sentence with "Girls". "Now, Girls, this part's a bit tricky, so watch what I do here....", or "Listen up Girls, don't want you to miss this part!" Even when he was helping me out like the generous person he was, he was picturing helping, teaching, and caring for his Girls. He loved each one of you very, very much, and it was never more evident to me than during that day

I´m so incredibly sorry for your loss and am holding the entire Wood family in my heart. Chuck had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged. He was my best friend´s dad, but over the years, he became so much more than that. His goofy humor, easy laughter, and unwavering love for his family made every moment so warm. I have so many memories of him that make me smile: family dinners where he always had a tall glass of milk, working on cars together specifically fixing Melissa´s spark plug, painting the old farmhouse, a sunny day at Willow River Falls, and even the time he and the rest of the family visited me at Iowa State-he had a way of making every moment feel lighthearted and full of care. Sundays with the Vikings game on in the background will always remind me of him.

Chuck had a quiet strength and dependability that grounded everyone around him. The Wood family became a second family to me, and Chuck was a big part of why their home felt so full of love. Without him, it´s hard to imagine that home the same again-but his presence and kindness will always stay with me. I´ll carry those memories and the impact he had on my life with deep gratitude. He´ll be so missed.

I´m so incredibly sorry for your loss. One of my favorite memories with him is when he was helping me and teaching me how to change the oil and transmission fluid in my car. He was so excited and wrapped up in teaching that he started every sentence referring to me as "Girls". "Now Girls, you gotta be careful with this part here, it get´s tricky...". Even when teaching me, he was thinking about all the times he was helping and caring for his Girls. He truly loved you all and was happiest when caring for you guys.

Pam, Melissa, Olivia, and Natalie: I am so sorry for your loss. I would love coming to the house and seeing Chuck´s big smile. He was always so welcoming and inviting and would make everyone laugh constantly from his humor. I would always love helping on his projects and would appreciate all of his expertise and advice on cars and life. He will truly be missed by many.
