Charles Wright Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bedford Funeral Home - Boston Globe on Jun. 4, 2024.
Charles Wesley "Skip" Wright, received a direct message from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The message stated that the place being prepared for him was complete and ready to take up residence. The Lord further assured him that he wouldn't have to suffer anymore and went on to say, I know how you liked a little bling occasionally so, you're going to love this. The streets up here are paved with gold. And Ohh, Skip, the Lord said: one of the twelve sacred gemstones of Revelation is Amethyst, your birthstone. So come on home, my son, and take your rest.
Skip's casual nap transcended into eternal rest on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at his home in Virginia Beach, VA. He was born to the late Mr. Michael E. Wright and Mrs. Maxine H. Wright. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mr. Charles Wright and Mrs. Virginia J. Wright; as well as his maternal grandparents Mr. Samuel Wesley Harris and Mrs. Dorothy M. Harris. Skip loved his birth name because he was named after both of his grandfathers.
Skip was educated in the Norfolk Public School System where he attended both Booker T. Washington and Lake Taylor High Schools. He excelled academically, graduating with honors. He was a naturally talented and gifted athlete from the early years of Little League and all throughout high school. During his senior year of high school, Skip was scouted by several Major League Baseball Teams. Unfortunately, he suffered a career-ending injury that changed the trajectory of his life. Believing there were still great things awaiting him, Skip left Norfolk, VA bound for James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, VA to follow in his Aunt Cyn's footsteps. After leaving JMU, he eventually moved to Raliegh, NC and made that his home.
As he worked to establish himself, he was employed by several different restaurants as a Server. His undeniable charm, witty sense of humor and charisma made the customers fall in love with him, and that was the catalyst to his success. After leaving the hospitality industry, Skip worked five years at GlaxoSmithKline, a science-led global health care company as a Systems Technician. He held several other positions during his time in Raleigh, but especially enjoyed working for McKinley Landscaping and Design, a company owned and founded by one of his best friends. He was awarded another opportunity to do something that was always his heart's desire, working in the Entertainment Industry. He joined NINE25 Productions, a production company also founded by another one of his best friends. He was part of the company from its inception in 2008. He was instrumental in acting and production on several projects. He co-starred in several films and was also Co-Director of a stage play.
To know Skip was to love him. No matter where he went, those that met him immediately fell in love with him. His infectious smile was everything. He was like a magnet because everyone was drawn to him, wanted to be around him and wanted to be like him. His family meant the world to him, as well as his many friends. He never neglected to show his love and affection whenever he was with you. First, he'd flash his beautiful smile, let out a hearty laugh and greet you with a huge bear hug. Skip never departed company or ended a phone call without letting you know how much he loved you.
His passing is a tremendous loss to so many people who knew and loved him. Those left to cherish their memories include his beloved mother Maxine H. Wright; aunts Karen W. Austin (Jesse), Cynthia L. Wright and Cheryl Woodard; a loving and devoted girlfriend Sarah Davis; many other family members and friends.
