Charles Gammons Wright, Jr., 82, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, at Erlanger Hospital with loving family by his side.

Charles was born on December 31, 1942, in Gary, Indiana, to Charles Gammons Wright, Sr., and Clynera Montyne Davis Wright. He spent his childhood years on the grounds of the University of Chattanooga and enjoyed trips to his grandfather's farm and general store in Lafayette, Georgia.

He met his wife, Mary Wade Endsley, in Chattanooga, and they were married on May 3, 1980. After a brief time in Chattanooga, Tennessee, they moved their family to the countryside east of Chickamauga, Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Wade Wright; his three daughters, Bonnie Wright-Woodward, Beth Wright-Griggs, and Chappell Rebecca Madhani; his four grandchildren, Victoria, Dylan, Abraham, and Charlotte "Charlie"; his siblings Marlene Comeaux (husband Malcolm; children Michelle & Blaine) and Frank Burton Wright.

Charles had a passion for lifelong learning, often found with his "nose in a book" studying Spanish, psychology, or human anatomy and physiology. He constantly inspired his daughters and grandchildren with his insatiable thirst for knowledge and passion for curiosity. His numerous academic pursuits laid the foundation for his dedicated career as a lawyer, where he primarily assisted the underserved who were unable to afford the full costs of legal services.

Charles was also a devoted runner, known for his love of exercise, nutrition, and naturopathic medicine. He regularly counseled his family and friends on the importance of exercise for optimal health. He sang in church choirs throughout the years and enjoyed his brief time with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Chorus. Charles was a big brother in the Chattanooga Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

In his later years, Charles enjoyed his daily walks with Wade on the trails of the Chickamauga Battlefield and multiple locations in the Chattanooga area. He continued his life purpose of aiding the underserved until his final days.
