Tamassee – Charlie "Charles" Norton Holbrooks, Jr., 72, husband of Mae Bell Webb Holbrooks, passed away on Friday, May 9th, 2025 at Prisma Health Cottingham Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 28th, 1952, in Greenville, South Carolina, Charles was the son of the late Charlie Norton Holbrooks, Sr and Margie Kelley Holbrooks. Charles was retired from the Army National Guard after 22 years of service and retired from West Point Stevens after 32 years of service. Charles had a great passion for gospel fellowship singers, loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Clemson Tigers, and karaoke. He was a member of Open Arms Tabernacle.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Mae Bell Webb Holbrooks; sons, Charles Michael Holbrooks of Westminster, Darren Holbrooks of Salem; daughter, Jessica Holbrooks of Tamassee; brothers, Bobby Holbrooks of West Union, Tommy Holbrooks of Walhalla, Kenny Holbrooks of Seneca; grandchildren, Corey Alan Holbrooks (Kathryn), Christopher Holbrooks, Breanna Singleton, Brittany Loggins (Matt), Abigail Greenwich; and thirteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his brothers, Calvin Holbrooks, Floyd Holbrooks, Harold Holbrooks, Butch Holbrooks, J.W. Holbrooks; and sisters, Louise Holbrooks, Ruby Cisneros, Beatrice Owens, Elizabeth Jett.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, May 16th, 2025 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 15th, 2025, at Sandifer Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of the son, Darren Holbrooks, 136 Hickory Lane, Salem, SC 29676. Flowers are accepted. Condolences may be expressed online by visiting www.sandiferfuneralhome.com.
