KINGS MOUNTAIN: Charlie Wayne Phillips, born on October 14, 1965, in Orange County, Florida, passed away on May 14, 2025, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, at the age of 59. He was a man of great spirit and warmth, known for his love of family, sports, and simple pleasures.
Charlie was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his beloved son, Austin Phillips, and his wife, Brook; his cherished daughter, Christina Robinson, and her husband, Donnie; and his dear stepdaughter, Stacey Putman, and her husband, Brian. His six grandchildren—Nathan, Landyn, Maddox, Palmer, Ryland, and Sadie—brought great delight to his life. Also surviving is his loving girlfriend of seven years, Linda Adams.
Charlie had a deep passion for playing horseshoes, proudly amassing over a dozen trophies through the years. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a loyal supporter of the Duke Blue Devils and the Miami Dolphins. He found peace in working with his hands and enjoyed the rugged challenges that came with it, embodying a toughness that inspired those around him. He relished playing basketball with his grandkids and spent many joyful hours exploring flea markets.
Music held a special place in Charlie's heart, and he was especially fond of Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. His strong faith in God was a guiding light throughout his life.
Preceded in death by his father, Charlie Phillips Sr., his granddaughter, Whitley, and his uncle Floyd, Charlie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Kings Mountain, NC. The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM, followed by the service at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain, NC.
Charlie will be dearly missed but remembered fondly for his enduring spirit and the love he shared with all who knew him.
