Charlie Dean Sharp

Charlie Dean Sharp, known affectionately as "Money Man" to his friends and simply Charlie to his loved ones, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024, in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Born on June 15, 1942, in Waynesville, North Carolina, Charlie's journey through life was marked by his loving nature, kindness, and generosity that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Charlie's early years in Waynesville were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family. He was the cherished son of the late Ford and Mary Francis Sharp and grew up alongside his siblings, including his late sister Judy and late brothers Frank, Cecil, Jimmy, and Larry. His sisters Tootsie Holland and Lois Hannah, along with their families, remember him fondly for the joy and laughter he brought into their lives.

Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Army. His dedication to service and his country was a testament to his character and his commitment to the values he held dear. Following his military service, Charlie continued to work as a mechanic, a profession that not only showcased his skill but also his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Charlie's heart was always fullest when he was surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Irene Sharp, who stood by his side as a partner and best friend. Together, they shared a life full of love and cherished memories. His legacy continues through his children, Anthony (Angela) Sharp, Brian (Christy) Sharp, and Kim Sharp, as well as his stepchildren, John R. (Angie) Crowder and Bobby Crowder. Charlie was a guiding light in their lives, and his wisdom and love will continue to inspire them.

The joys of being a grandfather were manifold for Charlie. He was blessed with a host of grandchildren: Noah (Kinsley) Sharp, Davi (Rhiannon) Sharp, Elizabeth (Mitchell) Hill, Jessica (DJ) Hill, Adam Morgan, Candie Edwards, Heather (Travis) Hollis, Noelle (Tyler) Poole, and Harrison Sharp. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and adventures. His great-grandchildren, Mary Jade, John, Paisley, Remington, Thomas, Ellie, and Hailey, also brought him immense happiness and will carry the memories of their great-grandfather with them.

Charlie's love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. These interests allowed him to create lasting memories with his family and friends, sharing stories and teaching the younger generations the value of patience and respect for the wilderness.

Those who knew Charlie will remember him as a man who lived his life with a kind and generous spirit. His ability to love unconditionally and his readiness to help others are qualities that define him. Charlie's presence was a comforting one, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
