Charlie Ray Starbuck was born to Donald Ray and Hortense Mae Starbuck on January 30, 1967 in Cedarville, Kansas. He was welcomed home by his siblings Reford, John, LaDona and Kelly.

Charlie attended and graduated from Laverne Public School in 1986. After graduation, he attended Liberal Technical School for 2 years as a machinist.

Charlie married the love of his life, Cathy, on October 24, 1987 in Abilene Kansas. They were happily married for 36 years. Charlie and Cathy made their home in Abilene Kansas and later moved to Grandview, Idaho. They resided there for 17 years, then moved to Slapout Oklahoma in 2005 While living in Grandview, Charlie was employed by Simplot Land and Livestock as a mechanic, machinist and auto body painter. After moving to Slapout, Charlie became employed by Beaver County. He also worked for Compressco and was currently employed by SPC out of Woodward as a service technician.

Charlie had a servant's heart, as was showcased by his fond love and understanding, with his devotion to the Fire Service Training, Fire Departments and EMS. While in Grandview, Charlie was 2nd Assistant Fire Chief and an EMT from 1992 to 2005. From 2005 — 2023, Charlie volunteered as the Fire Chief of the Slapout Fire Department, then became a member of the Gate Fire Department to present.

Charlie worked for OSU-FST as an Instructor. From 2018 — present, he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Service Committee. He also was an EMT for Beaver County EMS and Buffalo EMS.

Charlie had several hobbies including tinkering with motors, hunting, fishing, cooking at chili cookoffs, dutch oven cooking and was the best ever at smoking cheese. He also enjoyed coaching boys little league football, teaching Fire and EMS classes, teaching 4-H kids how to cook omelets with a pan of water and plastic bag.

Charlie passed this life and went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2024.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother Reford.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife Cathy of the home, sons Michael of Enid, Oklahoma and Jason of

Richmond, Virginia. He is also survived by his siblings John and wife Becky of Elk City, Oklahoma,

LaDona of Smithfield, Virginia, Kelly and wife Irma of Newcastle, Colorado, LaCinda and husband Jeremy Farmer of Kansas City, Kansas and Ramona and husband Steve Willoughby of Richmond, Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with expenses may be made at the account at Bank of Beaver City.

 

Uniforms and Fire Department T-shirts are the dress code for Fire, Ambulance, Police, and Emergency Management.
