Charlie Sweet

We are saddened to announce the death of Charles Keene Sweet. Charlie was born on November 17th, 1954 and passed away in Rockford, Illinois on July 4th, 2023.
Charlie was the son of Rosemary and Rowland Sweet of Sacramento and Palm Desert, CA.
Charlie spent over 40 years in the greater Coachella Valley. From construction to real estate development to commercial real estate, Charlie did it all!
Charlie loved to travel and the world and see what was out there to see! Egypt and England were two of his favorites.
Charlie was a flight instructor, airplane pilot, teacher, and forever student. He loved to fly in the open skies. He has countless students, of all ages, whom he taught to fly. He owned the flight school at Bermuda Dunes Airport and was so proud of that accomplishment. Charlie's dreams were larger than life.
Charlie was a patriot who loved history and America and all that makes America great.
Charlie was a loving father to-and is survived by-his loving daugher, Hayley McLeod (Sweet) and her husband, Gabe Mcleod.
There is nothing that Charlie wouldn't do for his little girl.
Charlie is additionally survived by his siblings: Rose Sweet (Makohin), Barb Torres (Sweet), Serena Randol (Sweet), Joseph Sweet, John Sweet, Malia Monroe (Sweet), Dr. Fred Sweet, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and other people that loved him so. He is additionally survived by his "siblings" Bruce and Darlene Hamilton who are the beloved children of Ms. Celestine Randle, the beloved nanny of the Sweet children.
A Catholic funeral Mass will be at Sacred Heart Church in Palm Desert, CA at 10am on Friday September 15th, 2023. Please join us if you are available for a funeral mass. A no-host lunch at Keedy's Grill in Palm Desert will follow.
Our love goes out to all of Charlie's friends and family and extended family. He wasa one of a kind, and will never be forgotten. Please join us if you are available.
