Charlotte McClure Obituary

Charlotte Tankersley McClure joyfully lived a beautiful life of 85 years.

She was born August 7, 1940, to loving parents, H.G. "Doc" and Sarah Tankersley, and was raised in Gainesville, Georgia. Charlotte had a zest for life and a jubilant, joyful nature that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was clever, full of laughter, and a jolly spirit who brought warmth to every room. A wonderful homemaker and exceptional cook, she was deeply devoted to her family.

In 1959, she met the love of her life, Morris Lynn McClure, in Gainesville, and they were married for 63 beautiful years. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and community. Alongside Morris, Charlotte joined Central Baptist Church in 1960, where her heart for service blossomed. She loved to sing hymns, led a prayer team, and faithfully supported church activities throughout her life. One of her favorite hymns was "Blessed Assurance," a fitting reflection of her steadfast faith and joyful spirit. She was also a Shrinette for many years and a lifelong supporter of the Lumpkin County Camp Meeting in Dawsonville, GA. In 1993, she and her family helped found Lanier Hills Church, where her mission to love and serve the Lord continued.

Charlotte had a passion for working with people and spent many years serving her loyal clients at Hair Unique, a beloved hair salon in Gainesville. She had a natural talent for making others feel beautiful and heard. Earlier in life, she played the clarinet in the Gainesville High School Band and was a graduate of the Class of 1958.

In her retirement, Charlotte enjoyed scenic road trips with Morris through the North Georgia mountains and the occasional trip to Cherokee. She also found joy in gardening, laughter-filled gatherings with loved ones, and being an ever-present source of support to her family.

Above all, Charlotte was a dedicated "Mimi" to her three granddaughters. She kept them every day and spoiled them endlessly - not just with treats and hugs, but with love, guidance, and joy. When they weren't in school or with their parents, they were with her at "Mimi School," where they spent their days learning, laughing, and being poured into by her gentle, wise spirit. Her presence shaped their lives, and the legacy of her unconditional love will live on through them.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Morris Lynn McClure; her parents, H.G. "Doc" and Sarah Tankersley; and her siblings, Jean Tankersley Cameron and James Andy Tankersley. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Shannon McClure Pannek, and son-in-law Derik Marc Pannek; granddaughters Rebecca Hudgins Pannek, Meredith McClure Pannek, and Jenna Lee Pannek. She is also survived by her sister, Rhonda Tankersley Brown and husband Cleve Brown, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Taylor will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Drive, Gainesville, Georgia 30504 is in charge of the arrangements.
