CHARLOTTE E. VAN HOOK

1939 - 2023

Charlotte E. Van Hook, 83, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Gilbert, AZ. She was born October 28, 1939 in Uhrichsville, OH and she had spent most her life in the Chicagoland area. Charlotte attended Malone College in Canton, Ohio studying Christian Studies and also received her bachelor's degree from Olivet Nazarene College. She was a former elementary teacher, spending 21 years teaching 3rd grade. She and her late husband, Sam, were restaurant proprietors and owners of Butler's Pantry in Frankfort, IL and of Bennett-Curtis House in Grant Park, IL. She finally retired for good after 20 years as a caregiver to a Country Estate in Chicago. After her final retirement she went to live with her daughter, Jody and son in law in Texas, and then moved to AZ about 3 years ago. Charlotte was a member of Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church & Choir in Grayslake and was a beloved animal lover. Surviving is her daughter, Jody (Robert) Smith, her grandchildren, Samantha (Donald) Schoonover and Austin Thomas; great grandchildren; Aiden, Daphne and Emmersyn; sister, Donna Lee Gonzales and sister-in-law, Alberta Anderegg and many nieces and nephews and their children, her Godson, and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Sam Van Hook in 2006, brothers and sister-in-law, Paul (Jean) & Doyle Anderegg. A funeral service was held on April 6, 2023 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, in Libertyville, IL. A link is available on the funeral home website to view services at any time.
