Charlotte Claiborne Wintermeyer, A.K.A. Charlotte Meisner, born December 23, 1946, in Oneida, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. She was the beloved daughter of Cora Sexton and Blaine Claiborne, and grew up alongside her sister, Carolyn.
From a young age, Charlotte had a deep love for horses and the freedom she felt riding them. She was also remarkably talented with her hands, especially when it came to sewing, creating beautiful pieces with patience and care. With her striking beauty and natural confidence, she even competed in beauty pageants as a young woman, where her elegance and charm made her truly unforgettable.
She attended the University of Tennessee, where she was a proud member of the Phi Mu fraternity. Shortly thereafter, she began a remarkable career with United Airlines as a flight attendant. Over the course of 36 years, she traveled the world experiencing different wonders across the globe. Known for her leadership and dedication, she also served as a union chairman, advocating for and supporting her fellow flight attendants before retiring from a career she loved. She was deeply involved in her community supporting local organizations, working with Parks and Recreation, the Women’s Club, and even participating in political efforts supporting the Clintons.
She shared 42 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Keith Wintermeyer. Together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and family.
She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Stephanie and Kristi, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her strength, zest for life, and unwavering love shaped the lives of those closest to her.
Beyond her career and family, she had a deep love for classical music and found joy in dancing and singing. Her adventurous spirit and passion for travel allowed her to see much of the world, experiences she cherished and often shared through stories with family and friends.
She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, fierceness, generosity, and the kindness and grace she brought into the lives of everyone who knew her.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Keith Wintermeyer; her daughters, Stephanie De Filippo and Kristi Wintermeyer; her sister, Carolyn; her granddaughters, Sophia and Aria and grandson, Aydon, as well as the many friends who will miss her dearly.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
