Robert Miles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by All County Funeral Home & Crematory - Treasure Coast Chapel on Mar. 15, 2026.
Born on April 1st, 1931, in Knoxville Iowa, our Papa, Bobbie Lee (his birth name given to him by his mother) (or Robert or Bob) Miles passed away in Stuart, FL on March 8th 2026. He was the second son of Forest & Fern Miles. He was preceded to heaven by his parents and his three brothers and one sister.

Our dad met our mom Norma Elaine Perrin in high school and they married on April 16th, 1949. He loved to say that they lived a "charmed" life together for the next 68 years. Our mom passed away in 2017 from Alzheimer's, and he was her caretaker for over 3 years.

Our dad worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Michigan as a labor Liaison for the Auto Workers of America. In his role in this job, he met with and knew Jimmy Hoffa.

While living in Michigan, Dad became one of the founding fathers for the City of Kentwood.

In 1969 he finally got his wish and we as a family moved to Florida. We moved to Plantation where they loved the small-town feel.

Dad worked many jobs, including construction, opening a labor pool company and selling Iowa Beef. He eventually found his true calling as a real estate agent in an office with our mom, me and Pam, son-in-law Jim and granddaughter Missi. After a highly successful career in real estate in Plantation Fl, mom and dad retired to Pt. St Lucie Fl. But because he had been bitten by the real estate bug, he didn't really retire, he kept selling real estate and was a top agent until 2013.

His brightly colored clothes with matching pants, shirt, hat, and shoes were the talk of every family get-together and party. His wit included expressions like "We always expect things to happen and when they do it's so unexpected", and "the glass is always half full", regardless of the circumstances. His favorite daily expressions were, "It's a Beautiful Day" and "Life is Beautiful" …which he said every morning when we called to talk.

Dad loved to "GO" – whether it be cruising, traveling and seeing new places or just shopping at Costco or Kohl's. Just ask – want to go? And the answer would always be "Of course!" His adventurous spirit also led him to skydiving twice – once at age 90 and then last year on his 94th birthday. He had planned to skydive again this year on his 95th birthday.

He spent his last four years at The Point Independent Living Facility here in Stuart where he was truly everybody's friend. His goal there was to brighten spirits and spread his positivity. Not be a crabby old man….and he never was that crabby old man.

He outlived all his original family and two of his beautiful daughters, Darci Jo Miles who passed away at age 16 and Lori Kay Rubino who passed away at age 59.

Our Papa is survived by two of his daughters Pamela Sue Sullivan of Plantation, Fl and me, Chari Lee Miles of Stuart Fl, along with 11 grandchildren, Mindi Lee Paruta of Stuart Fl, Melissa Lynn Randall of Plantation Fl, Todd James Huisman of Plantation Fl, Tami Lee Adams of Plantation Fl, Ryan James Sullivan of Jacksonville Fl, Darci Rae Ring of Jacksonville Fl, Zoe Rubino of NY, NY, Cassie Anne Haliwell of Mooresville N. Carolina, Trevor Rubino of Las Vegas NV, Michelle Rubino of Las Vegas NV and Michael Rubio. 21 great grandchildren (with 1 more on the way), and 4 great- great grandchildren (with 1 more on the way).

Our Papa will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He showed us, by the way he lived every day, how to grow older with grace, kindness, optimism and an unwavering love for family. His respect for others, gentle spirit, and positive outlook touched more lives than he probably ever realized. Though our hearts ache in his absence the love he gave and the example he set will continue to live on in our family and in the generations that follow.

This past Thanksgiving with the 42 Miles family there to celebrate, Papa told us all to remember 1.4.3.7. which means I LOVE YOU FOREVER…and he will… love us all forever.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in our Papa's honor and memory to:

The Cooper Steadman Foundation Helping Families Fight Childhood Cancer

Or
