Charmene Bodenhorn Obituary
Charmene Bodenhorn, 94, of Lapel, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Harbour Manor Health and Living in Noblesville following an extended illness.
She was born on November 10, 1930, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert Lee Mattox and Virginia Dulker (Jackson) Mattox Saunders. She was a homemaker. She had also worked in the Lapel School candy room.
She loved animals and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was a loving grandma.
Charmene is survived by a daughter, Krista (husband, Tim) Compton; two grandchildren, Joshua Wayne (wife, Brittany) Compton and Alyson Kristine Compton; and two great-grandchildren, Brooks Compton and Addison Compton; and a wonderful neighbor and friend, Debbie Best.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years whom she married on May 7, 1955, Max Edward Bodenhorn and her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Pastor Aaron Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society for Hamilton County, 10501 Hague Road, Fishers, Indiana 46038.
