Cherie Dorothy Bennett, age 72, passed away on November 29, 2024 after a 3 month battle with cancer. She slipped away peacefully in the early morning hours after being at home in a hospice in Parker, Colorado. Born on June 15, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska, Cherie's life was marked by her resounding laughter, her love for quoting movies, and her unyielding kindness and compassion. Early on, as a single mother, she dedicated herself to the wellbeing of her children, often working multiple jobs to ensure their needs were met. Her ability to lend an ear and offer sage advice made her a pillar in her family. She was effectively, the tie that binds.
Cherie is survived by her husband, Vance Raymond Bennett; her sons, Daniel (Christina) Todalen and Dewayne (Michele) Todalen; her daughters, Melanie (Jeffrey) Malone and Andrea (Bill) Talbot; her siblings, Carmen Kay Mackey, Charmaine Yvonne Todalen, Robin Lynn Emshoff, and Edward William Copeland III. Her legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Yvonne (Barton)Jones; father, Edward William Copeland II; and step-father, Ronald Jones.
Cherie's hobbies included a deep love for movies and quoting them in daily conversations, playing card games, and visiting thrift stores, which she affectionately termed 'goody-ing.' Her affinity for all living creatures was profound, as she insisted on gently relocating even the smallest of insects rather than harming them. Known for her generosity, Cherie never missed an opportunity to give gifts, celebrating every birthday and special occasion with thoughtful presents, embodying her primary love language.
A celebration of Cherie's life will be held at the Embassy Suites, La Vista, 12520 Westport Parkway, Omaha, NE, in the Gatsby ballroom on December 14th from noon to 4 pm. Her life will be remembered as one filled with love, laughter, and an enduring spirit of generosity.
