Obituary of Cherie "Chad" Varner
Cherie "Chad" Iles Varner
Age 68, of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully, at St. Elizabeth Hospital with her daughter and grandchildren by her side. Born and raised in Independence, Chad was a cherished wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her father lovingly gave her the nickname "Chad," and it stuck-her friends and loved ones knew her best by that name.
Chad was a longtime member of Community Family Church, where she found great joy in worshiping the Lord. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through every challenge and blessing.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Varner-affectionately known as "Crazy Dave"-as well as her siblings, Barb Steinfort, Mike (Jesse) Iles, Eddie Iles, and Richie Iles, and her dear best friend, Vicky Embry.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted daughter, Nickie (Josh Scott) Boles; her brother, Stevie Iles; her nephew, Damien (Katie) Fowler; her grandchildren, Corey (Cassie) Hicks, Courtney (Tessa Wagner) Hicks, and Colton Goins; and her great-grandchildren, Braiden, Avaya, Aiden, Leo, and one more blessing on the way. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and a host of wonderful friends.
Chad spent 17 years working at Turfway Park Racetrack, where she took pride in keeping the facility clean and made countless friendships along the way-including meeting the love of her life, Dave. She later worked at CVG Airport for three years before enjoying her well-earned retirement. She moved into her daughter's home, where she filled her days with the things she loved most: shopping (especially yard sales), listening to music, checking in on social media, and sharing heartfelt messages through greeting cards.
She was a proud member of the Red Hat Lady Society and relished spending time with her friends at lunches and game days. Her warmth and hospitality will be deeply missed, especially during her cherished Christmas Eve gatherings and the unforgettable meals she prepared-no one will ever forget her special chili served with peanut butter sandwiches.
Chad's home was a reflection of her beautiful spirit, adorned with teapots, floral patterns, her rose garden, and Thomas Kinkade paintings. Her presence brought joy, her laughter was contagious, and her love knew no bounds.
Though she has departed from this world, her memory will forever be held close in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Rest in peace, Chad-you were truly one of a kind.
