Cheryl Annette Curry was born on June 4, 1952 in Dallas, TX. She transitioned from this life on October 24, 2025. Cheryl Annette was raised in Dallas by her parents, Richard and Ora Fields. She attended Dallas Public Schools from kindergarten through high school. During her formative years, she was active in many of the campuses extra-curricular activities. Cheryl attended Franklin D. Roosevelt High School where she was a member of the Pep Squad, school choir, and the student council. After graduating in May 1974, Cheryl began her matriculation at the University of Houston with a major in Biology. While at the University of Houston, Cheryl volunteered her free time to many different causes.

In the spring of 1973, Cheryl became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated's Zeta Sigma chapter. Cheryl became a mother to her only child, Dedrick Renard, in September 1975.

Cheryl wanted the best for her son, so she moved to Dallas where she raised him around family and friends. Cheryl united with Concord Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E. K. Bailey where she was a dedicated member of the sanctuary choir and the Praise Team. She volunteered tirelessly at Concord as well as with various organizations throughout the city of Dallas. Cheryl was employed by the Lakewest YMCA where she worked as a Membership Coordinator. Cheryl found her calling at the Y. She loved working with youth programs as well as the seniors who came for recreation. Upon retirement in 2020, Cheryl continued to volunteer her time to the Y by raising funds for their annual campaign.

Cheryl was a songbird her entire life and now she has taken her place in the soprano section of the Heavenly Choir.

Cheryl will be missed and her memory cherished by all those who love her. She is survived by her son, Dedrick Curry, granddaughter, Zahirah Annette-Nosipho, sisters, Portia Smith and Adrienne Fields, along with a doting niece Christina Watson (Gary) and her favorite aunt, Patricia Price as well as many cousins and friends.

Cheryl was a wonderful friend since elementary school - Albert Sidney Johnson. She had an amazing voice and I was sure she would let her voice project her to becoming a world renown opera singer. Decades later Cheryl met again at the Dallas Metropolitan YMCA, her role at a Service Administrator spoke volumes and assisted with encouraging many more to a healthier life style and improved living. My condolences to her family and Cheryl you will be missed.
