Cheryl was known for her remarkable collection of hearts, a charming tribute to her last name. Blessed with a wide array of talents, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and engaging in various crafts. In particular, Cheryl found joy in baking, especially during the holiday season when she would make Christmas cookies and goodies along with creating homemade birthday cakes for her loved ones.

Her joy was also reflected in her leisure pursuits. Cheryl was an enthusiastic fan of baseball, delighting in watching the New York Yankees baseball team on television. She also enjoyed watching tv shows such as Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

Cheryl was deeply involved in her community and found fulfillment in her many accomplishments. She was a dedicated member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) Les Dames d'Etude and lent her voice as a soprano soloist in the Opelousas Community Choir. Her commitment to music extended to her participation in the FBCO Choir and the Civic Circle of Opelousas. Cheryl's faith was also a cornerstone of her existence; she was an active member of Cane Brake Baptist Church in Lottie, Louisiana, where she participated in the Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her husband, Merrick Henry; her son, Budge Cutrera, III (Lauren); her daughters, Angela Cutrera and Christine Cutrera Tidwell (Jay); her siblings, Marla Guidry (Donald), Cathy Guidry (Sandres), and Jerry DeHart (Cindy); and her sisters-in-law, Kay DeHart and Della DeHart. She cherished her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren, Corey Duos (Molly), Joseph Cutrera, Chasidy Tidwell Snyder (Cody) and Jaci Tidwell and took great joy in being a great-grandmother to Kyndall West, Bryar Snyder, and one on the way (November 2025), Lilith Duos.  She also has a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Budge "Buddy" Cutrera, Jr.; her parents, Alfred DeHart, Jr. and the former Mabel "Mae" Hargrave; her brothers, Rick DeHart and Peter DeHart; and nephew, Shannon Guidry.

Cheryl DeHart Cutrera will be remembered for her unwavering love, her spirited personality, and her contributions to her family and community. Her legacy of kindness and creativity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her. Her favorite bible verse was John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”
