Cheryl DeVore Obituary

DYER CHAPEL - Cheryl Ann Bryant DeVore, beloved caregiver and cherished family member, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at her residence. Born in Kokomo, Indiana, on Sunday, September 25, 1955, Cheryl's life was marked by a deep commitment to her family, her profession, as well as her friends.

Cheryl dedicated herself to the field of respiratory therapy, beginning her career at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Throughout her career, she made significant contributions while working at hospitals in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, and Celina, Tennessee, ultimately retiring from Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Her professionalism shone through her active memberships in esteemed organizations such as the TN Society for Respiratory Care, the National Board of Respiratory Care, and the American Association of Respiratory Care.

Although she was born and raised in the north, Cheryl was known affectionately as a true southern lady. Cheryl's personality radiated warmth, humor, and tenacity. She loved unconditionally and was known for her funny and persistent nature. Her greatest joys came from her cherished children and grandchildren, who filled her life with love and laughter.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Jerry DeVore; her son, Chad Bryant of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; her daughter, Calyn Bryant of Cookeville; her sisters, Diane McKenzie (Dale) of Moorehead, Kentucky and Shelly Driver of Glasgow, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Kyle Olson (Hikaru), Kody Bryant, Trevor Bryant, Sophia Lucille Bryant, and Americus Depp; and her great-granddaughter, Mimi Olsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Shelton Bryant and Mildred Lucille Prather Bryant.

The family invites all who knew and loved Cheryl to celebrate her life during the visitation scheduled for Saturday, September 6th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service starting at 1:00 p.m., both held at the Dyer Chapel, located at 798 South Willow Avenue, Cookeville, Tennessee.

Cheryl’s legacy will endure through the lives she touched, and her family and friends will forever cherish her memory.
