Cheryl Ann Doyle was born August 13, 1944 in Haskell, Texas. She moved to Bedford, Texas while in the 7th grade and met the love of her life, Kenneth Doyle. She and Kenneth were married on July 29, 1961 and made their home in Bedford. In 1972, they moved to Hamilton where they raised their three children. She and Kenneth moved to Gatesville in 1982 after they purchased the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store. Cheryl was a businesswoman and together with Ken, owned or operated various businesses in Gatesville, including JC Penny Catalog Store, Going Places Travel Agency, and the Gatesville Skating Rink. She later worked as an accountant in the garment factory for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and retired in 2010 after working there for twelve years.
Cheryl was a true Christian woman and faithfully attended the Hamilton Church of Christ for over 50 years. She was an avid outdoors person who loved spending time with her grandchildren. She could almost always be found outside tending to her flowers. She also loved to travel and attend antique car shows. One of her favorite pastimes though, was driving through the countryside with Ken in one of their antique cars while listening to Johnny Cash on the radio.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her brother, Lynn Martin and grandson, Spenser Doyle.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ken Doyle; children, Johnny Doyle and wife, Julie, Jimmy Doyle, and Tamera Walker and husband, Jeff; and grandchildren, Layne and Whitley Walker.
