Cheryl Kaiser, 70, of Faulkton, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen.
Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at United Church of Faulkton, Pastor Shawn Stoll, officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024 followed by a 6:00 p.m. prayer service, all at the church.
Cheryl was a happy-go-lucky child. She loved sewing, 4-H, farming, and family. She preferred cooking and sewing with her mother and sister to being outside. She has kept these loves throughout the entirety of her life. Cheryl was born in Mitchell, SD and spent her growing up years on her family farm in Fulton, SD. After her schooling, she briefly moved to San Fransisco and then Toledo, OH to pursue a job. Following her marriage to Mark, she briefly moved to Manhattan, KS before settling in St. Louis, MO where she lived a majority of her life. In recent years, she moved to Faulkton, SD to be closer to family.
Throughout her years mothering, she was always there. She was loyal and loving. Her genuineness and goodness showed through in all of her relationships. Those closest to her loved her heart and recognized how rare she was. After her divorce, she began her career at Vantage Custom Classics and eventually became the office manager. She retired in her early 60's.
She met the love of her life, Steve, in 1999. He can be credited for helping her experience new adventures. She enjoyed quarter mile drag racing in the 1929 model A Ford that she helped build. She loved boating, water sports, and any time on the water, although she couldn't swim, nor did she want to get her hair wet. She could be heard cackling and screaming for miles.
She loved parades and dressing up because she loved making people smile. She and Steve enjoyed car shows and the time with their many friends. She loved her title "Racing Granny" and was proud of her career and accomplishments in racing. She enjoyed her years and time spent camping and ATV riding. Although she wouldn't bait her hook, she loved fishing. She loved co-ed softball and spent many years bowling on Friday nights with her son, Eric.
Every chance she got, she visited her grandkids and sitting alongside their parents at family functions, backyard BBQs, field trips, adventures, and anything else that their family was doing. Her legacy is far reaching and seen through so many lenses. She kept connections near and far through cards and letters. She honored everyone's anniversaries, birthdays, and accomplishments. She was known to have an intuition that she inherited from her mother. She would "have a feeling" and would write a card to let that person know she was thinking of them.
Cheryl passed unexpectedly, but in her true nature, her last request was to donate her organs.
Cheryl is survived by her son, Eric, his wife Stephanie, and their three children, Jakob, Austin, and Mason; son, Curtis, his wife Azin, and their two children, Ava and Curtis Jr.; boyfriend of 25 years, Steven Morley; their dog, "Rusty"; and his family including: Mitch (Andrea) and their kids, Carson, Graham, and Baur; Christie (Earl), and her children: Faith, Michael, and Vance; great grandkids: Jack and Abbey; brothers: Randy (Brenda) and Gary (Patti) Pitts; sister, Sharon (Chuck) Huss; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
