Cheryl Meagher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Mar. 9, 2026.
Cheryl, a cherished momma, nana, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on March 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 14, 1949, in Evansville, Indiana, to her momma Emma Meagher and father William Meagher, who both preceded her in death.

Cheryl is survived by her children, Shae Crooks (Tiffany) and Jennifer Burriss , and was the proud nana to Chauna Bednar, Ashlynn Thompson (Michael) McKenzi Welborn (Michael) and Brannon "B" Crooks, as well as great-grandchildren Ronnie, Bawer, Odin, and Auston, who were truly the light of her life. She is also survived by her brothers Vick Meagher and Mike Meagher.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, baking cookies and making memories while watching them play and simply be kids. Cheryl enjoyed arts and crafts and could often be found working on a good word search. She loved baking various types of bread, especially her favorite banana nut bread.

In quieter moments, she enjoyed sitting outside with a cup of coffee watching the hummingbirds. Cheryl was known for her profound and occasionally spicy choice of words, which often brought laughter to those around her.

Her family finds peace and happiness for her knowing she is reunited with her late husband Ronald "Ronnie" Crooks and her brothers Chaun Meagher and Patrick Meagher, who preceded her in death.

In keeping with Cheryl's wishes, there will be no formal services. Her family will honor her life privately. Her love, laughter, and memories will live on in the hearts of her family forever as she will be truly and deeply missed.
