Cheryl A. Powers

Cheryl A. Powers, age 86, of Peoria, passed away at 11:50 AM on Friday, February 28, 2025 at her home.
She was born September 2, 1938 in Metamora, the daughter to Leonard Kennel and Alice Theobald. She was raised and educated in Metamora, graduating with the Class of 1956. On May 31, 1958 she married Patrick H. Powers and together they cherished 59 years until his passing on June 17, 2017. Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family. In her free time, she enjoyed doing crafts and cooking for her family. She loved fishing and all things outdoors, especially the family trips to Lake of the Ozarks. Cheryl was a devout fan to the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Bulls, especially the early years watching Michael Jordan. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include four sons: Philip (Tammy) Powers of Liberty, MO, Daniel Powers of Peoria, Douglas Powers of Ocean Springs, MS and Tony (Jordan) Powers of Washington; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one granddaughter.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private graveside service will be held in St. Mary Cemetery in West Peoria at a later date. Father James Pankiewicz will officiate.
