Anthony Powers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Generations Funeral Home & Crematory - Tomahawk on Jan. 3, 2026.
Anthony "Tony" D. Powers, age 88, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. He was born on October 15, 1937, in San Francisco, CA, to the late Charles and Elma (Wertanen) Powers. Tony was united in marriage to Judith Martin on February 9, 1960, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, family, and hard work.
Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army, spending two years stationed in Germany during the Cold War. Following his military service, Tony worked at the paper mill in Tomahawk for more than 40 years.
An outdoorsman at heart, Tony especially enjoyed hunting, with a particular passion for moose hunting in Canada, as well as deer and bird hunting closer to home. He also loved fishing, spending many memorable days on the Great Lakes. In addition to the outdoors, Tony found joy in working with his hands. He loved building with logs and wood and was a talented artist whose creativity showed in everything he made. Above all else, Tony loved his family. He cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life.
Survivors include his sons, Lance Powers and Blaine (Sheri) Powers; his daughter, Toni "Hokie" (Jeff) Renn; and his brother, Gregory (Nancy) Powers. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Kyle (Julie) Powers, Lance Ryan Powers, Kayla Powers, and Brooke (Jordan) Burton; and his great-grandchildren, Madison, Mason, Vivian, and Brody. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elma; his wife, Judy; his brother, David; and his daughter-in-law, Marilyn Powers.
A combined service for both Judy and Tony will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Generations Funeral Home, at 2:00 PM. Rev. Ross Nelson will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 PM until the time of services at 2:00 PM. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
