49, of Cranston, passed away on October 3, 2025. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Richard Saccoccia and the late Eileen (Levesque) Saccoccia. Cheryl was the devoted mother of Jacob M. Stabile and Olivia G. Avella. She is also survived by her dear sister Karen A. Caranci and her husband Joseph and their children Mia and Nicholas; and her step-mother Mary B. Saccoccia. Cheryl was predeceased by her brother Michael R. Saccoccia.
Cheryl was a kind, warm-hearted person with a truly pure soul. From a young age, she was open-minded and accepting, always giving everyone she met a fair chance. She and her sister, Karen, were just a year apart and, despite how different they could be—Cheryl being outgoing and spontaneous, and Karen more shy—they were inseparable best friends throughout her life. When Cheryl, at the age of 15, lost her brother, Michael, the tragedy brought her even closer to her parents and sister. Later, the passing of her mother, Eileen, when Cheryl was 34, further deepened the bond between Cheryl, her father, and Karen. She loved them fiercely and would do anything for them.
Cheryl had a true passion for working with and helping people. Her first job was as a waitress at Newport Creamery at just 15 years old, and from that point on, she remained dedicated to roles that connected her with others. She spent many years bartending, where she met amazing life-long friends. Cheryl also worked at her grandfather’s store, Mineral Spring Liquors in North Providence, where she built strong and enduring bonds with her extended family. For a time, she served as a CNA, caring for others with the same compassion she showed in every part of her life. Most recently, she worked for the State of Rhode Island in the Department of Human Services, continuing her lifelong commitment to serving her community.
Cheryl’s greatest love and proudest accomplishment was being a mother. Her son, Jacob and her daughter, Olivia, were her whole life. As a single mother, there were struggles, but she always made sure her children were happy and most importantly felt loved. The kind, thoughtful individuals they are today are a reflection of the incredible mother she was. There is no doubt that she is absolutely heartbroken that she left them so early and will always be their heavenly angel.
