Cheryl Renee Young, a beacon of warmth and dedication, passed away on September 7, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina. Born on April 6, 1967, in
Delhi, Louisiana, Cheryl's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and enduring love for her family and community.
Cheryl was the cherished wife of Mark Allen Young and the proud mother of Thomas Young and Anna Claire Catherine Young. She was the loving daughter of Garland Lamar Reece and Joyce Essex Reece and the sister of Bradley Lamar Reece. Her life was rich with the love of her family, and she was a cornerstone in the lives of those who knew her best. Cheryl's legacy is also honored by the memories she shared with her grandparents, Garland Reece, Lou Audrey Reece, Fred Essex, Ruby Essex, and her Aunt Elaine Acerman, all of whom preceded her in death.
An alumnus of Warren Central High School, Cheryl continued her education at Hindes Community College, where she earned her associate degree in Respiratory Therapy. Her academic achievements laid the foundation for a career marked by compassion and excellence. As a respected and admired Respiratory Professional, Cheryl managed several Acute Care Hospital Wings throughout the Southeast, including facilities in Memphis, Tennessee, and Pelham, Alabama. Her dedication to her profession was recognized by the Star of Excellence Award from Novant Healthcare Systems of Nashville, Tennessee, highlighting her exemplary care and commitment to her patients.
Cheryl's interests extended beyond the walls of hospitals and into the heart of her home and community. She was renowned for her meticulous care of her yard and home in Sycamore Ridge, taking pride in creating a welcoming and festive atmosphere. Her passion for holiday decorations was unmatched, especially during Christmas, when she would artfully decorate six Christmas trees, a tradition cherished by her family. The beauty of her home at the holidays was a source of joy for all who had the pleasure to visit.
Cheryl's absence will be deeply felt, but her influence and the memories she created will continue to thrive in the lives of those she touched. She was a pillar of strength, a source of laughter, and an embodiment of love. Her family, friends, and all who knew her will remember Cheryl for her generosity, her unwavering support, and the care she extended to everyone around her.
As we bid farewell to Cheryl Renee Young, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of kindness and service that will forever be engraved in the hearts of many. Her journey on earth may have ended, but the light she shone will never fade.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday September 14, 2025, at Cox Funeral Home in
Delhi, LA with Rev. Billy Castilaw officiating.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM until time of service.
Interment will be in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in Monticello, LA
