Obituary of Chester Eugene Lee
Chester Eugene Lee was born on a snowy day on March 10, 1989 in the Fairview Hospital Minneapolis, Minnesota. On Chester's last day at his bedside was his immediate family, close family friends, primary home care nurse, Unitarian Minister and Hospital Chaplin. He died from a brain bleed in the Neuroscience Floor at the Essential Hospital (St Mary's), Duluth, Minnesota on September 9, 2024.
In 1989 Chester was given a Christian Baby Dedication ceremony in the Summit Assembly of God Church, St Paul, Minnesota. After moving to Duluth, MN he was later baptized in the St Paul's Episcopal Church in 1998. He started Pre-school at Como Park School, then later he was enrolled at Bridgeview School, St Paul, Minnesota in 1990. After moving to Duluth in late 1994, Chester attended Lincoln Park Elementary, and eventually East High School, Duluth MN where he graduated in May 2008. He started working at Pinewood Incorporated for disabled adults. He worked there until he was trached from a hospitalization in 2012. Chester Lee took many travels with family to Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA, Orlando, FL, Kansas City, MO., South Dakota, and Nebraska. He visited many places, national memorials, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios. His favorite times were spending time with his family at weddings, family reunions, birthdays, and graduations. Chester lived with his Mom (Melora Lee), Dad (Martin Lee), brother (Kenneth Lee) in Duluth Minnesota. Chester is survived by his maternal Grandfather (Eugene Mammenga), Step Grandmother (Char Brooker), Aunt Sharon Sculley (Mammenga), Uncle Dan Sculley and their children (first cousins) Jessica Griffin and Ryan, Abbey Sculley and Jamie Mack, Kevin Sculley and Jennifer, Sarah Lynch (Sculley) and Jake and all their children (second cousins).
Chester is preceded in death was his Great Grandmother Geneva Mammenga and Great Grandfather Frank Mammenga, Grandmother Ruth Mammenga (Sampe), Great Grandmother Mary Sampe, Great Grandfather Richard Sampe, Great Aunt Harriet (Sampe) Julian, Great Uncle Mike Julian. On his paternal side he is preceded in death by his grandparents Wayne and Ethel (Cary) Lee, uncle, Samuel Lee, aunt, Karen Lee, uncle, Dwight Lee who died in infancy, and aunt, Sharon Lee.
He is survived by paternal uncles, Galen Lee, Melvin Lee and spouse, Barb (Hespe) Lee and Perry Lee and spouse, Linda (Lampman) Lee. Paternal aunts who survived Chester include Shirlene, Aletha, and Bonita and spouse David. Other survivors on the paternal side include first, second and third cousins who are too many to count. Chester brightened other's lives by his infectious smile. He enjoyed sing-along Walt Disney music and many PBS children shows, most of all the Sesame Street show. A mainstay friend was the Barney and Friends adventure shows. Chester had a very special bond with his mother, Melora, dad, Martin, and younger brother, Kenneth. Many people cared about Chester over the years as he faced health concerns throughout his life. He is deeply missed by his family and care team. Rest in peace, Chester.
A Celebration of Life service is planned for Friday, Oct 25th, at 11 AM, TBD is the location and after the service a noon time fellowship is planned at the Rice Lake Township city hall community room near Duluth, MN.
