Chester "Chet" James Udell, Jr., age 59, of Hinckley Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in his home.
He was born on December 29, 1963, in Cleveland Ohio to the late Chester, Sr. and Darlene (nee Ayers) )Udell. He is survived by his loving children, Chester Udell III, Mitchell (Iris) Udell, Bradley (Taylor) Udell, Austin (Jordan) Udell, and Megan (Remington) Wade; dear grandchildren, Ava and Tidus; beloved siblings Valerie (Donald Jr) Irwin, Douglas (Rhonda) Udell, Kevin Udell; and his loyal canine companion Ladybird. He was preceded in death by his sister Laura Lee Udell.
He enjoyed cooking, working on anything mechanical, camping, fishing, Busch beer, Maglites, eagles, tools, and collecting things. He was a gifted mechanic, and could repair almost anything. He took his dog Ladybird fishing, hunting, camping, and on rides in the passenger seat of his truck. The two were inseparable. He enjoyed good jovial banter and any opportunity to lightly tease about politics. To his friends and neighbors, he was always there to lend a helping hand and uplifting words.
Chet served 21 years and 1 month in the United States Air Force specializing in vehicle and equipment maintenance, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He was honorably discharged at Eglin Air Force Base in 2005. Some of his honors include Air Force Commendation Medal, Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Achievement Medal, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, Marksmanship Ribbon/Rifle, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
Some called Chet "friend." Others called him "neighbor." Many called him "Dad" or "Grandpa." All would say he left this earth far too soon, and that he will be greatly missed.
