He was born in Marlow on December 24, 1953. Chris was a beloved member of the Marlow community, loving husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord. Chris was the son of Ralph Leo and Mary Charlene (McLearen) Abney. He was a proud graduate of Marlow High School. He married Kathy Abney in May of 1975 and they raised their family just outside of town. He farmed peanuts and worked his entire career for Stephens County District 1, retiring in 2020, after more than 43 years of service. He loved farming and ranching, riding horses with his granddaughters, and watching football.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters Lynda Sweat and Robbie Inda, and a baby brother Ricky Abney.

He is survived by his wife Kathy Abney, son Zachary Abney, daughter Amanda Abney, two granddaughters Ashlynn Abney and Jaymee Abney, his sister Dianna Littrell, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly. Chris will be remembered as a quiet, gentle man, who loved his family and served his church and community behind the scenes. He never wanted attention or recognition, just a lifetime of humble and heartfelt service to those he loved.

Honorary Pallbearers: Mark Beavers, Stephens County District 1 and 2 both past and present employees, Bill Miller, Bill Lockwood, Corey Smith, and the breakfast crew from Barb's Diner.
