Chris Briggs, 47, of Ottumwa, IA , passed away on October 9, 2025. He was born on September 25, 1978, to Paul and Debbie Briggs of Memphis, MO. He graduated from Scotland County High School in 1996.
Chris loved his family, especially his children, his dog, Ruger, and his friends. Chris enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time with family and friends, traveling, camping, and drinking Natural Lite.
He is survived by his wife, April Briggs; daughters Faith (Cody) LaPere of Lakeview, OR, Gracie Briggs of Cleveland, TN, Chiersten Briggs of Agency, IA, and Lucy Briggs of Agency, IA; his mother, Debbie (Jeff) Givens of Memphis, MO; one brother, Billy (Thais) Watkins of Columbia, MO; two sisters, Renee (Josh) McBee of Memphis, MO and Jennifer (Ryan) Gooden of Memphis, MO; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and lots of good friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Briggs; one son, Logan Briggs; grandparents Max & Ruth Briggs, Samuel Peterson, and Dorothy Boyd; Uncles Willis Garret, Richard Briggs, Robert Briggs, Tom Briggs, and Dennis Peterson.
As per his wishes cremation rites were accorded and there will be a Celebration of Life in the form of a visitation where the family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, 10/15, from 3 to 5 P.M. at Payne's.
Memorials are suggested to the family for their discretion and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.
