Chris Bouzis Craig

After a full life of faith, motherhood and countless deeply meaningful relationships, Chris Bouzis Craig, passed away on March 3, 2025, in Casper, her hometown.

Chris was born July 21, 1957, into what would become a large Greek family. Chris and her siblings spent much of their time at the Greek Orthodox Church, learning to cook from their beloved mother or helping their father at the Sandbar family business. English was Chris’ second language, but that didn’t deter her from making friendships throughout her school days that would endure until her passing.

After attending Colorado State University, Chris graduated from the University of Wyoming with a business degree. There she met Bob Craig, her future husband, and they moved to Denver where they resided for more than three decades. Bound by a shared love of dancing, travel and their son, Blake, their lifelong connection was as strong as it was complex.

As anyone who met her experienced, Blake was Chris’ greatest love, pride and heartburn. From the time he was born, he was her favorite topic of conversation. She delighted in telling how he was born to be an entrepreneur, renting out toys to his classmates at recess before founding his own company, Laborjack.

She smiled just as warmly when sharing stories of Blake’s kindness—like how he had already completed the adoption papers before even asking for permission to adopt their beloved mutt—as she did when recounting his antics. He reciprocated in the way he steadfastly navigated and managed her care later in life. From childhood mischief to life’s greatest challenges, their bond and love was truly special.

Chris was as successful in business as she was as a single mother. She thrived in industries where challenges were the norm, working as a vice president of marketing in the energy sector, a marketing executive at Big Brothers Big Sisters, and ultimately shifting to financial advising in 2006. Despite long odds, glass ceilings, a historic recession, and living five hours away from family to help with her son, Chris flourished professionally with ethics, honesty and hard work.

Chris' rich life was completed by faith, family, and friends. Like her mother and very best friend, Chris was devout in her Greek Orthodox faith and devoted countless hours to serving Saint Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church, where she was a longtime member of the Parish Council.

She was extremely close with her large extended family, and Aunt Chris was a staple at get-togethers. Despite living so far away, Chris always showed up with Blake–even going so far as to pulling him away from a pool party to attend a niece’s graduation. That “we were all so tight” was one of her greatest legacies.

As warm as she was sharp, Chris worked relentlessly at all of the relationships in her life. She was loquacious, stylish, forgiving and fun-loving. Her commitment to others is best demonstrated in all of the care she received following her Alzeheimer’s diagnosis. Even after moving back to Wyoming in 2019, her Denver friends regularly called, visited and checked in on her. She was rarely by herself in Casper and could usually be found alongside her closest family and friends, including her sister Angie, sisters-in-law Diane and Becky, and friends Kim and Debbie. She was loved as generously as she gave it.

She was the beloved daughter of Tony and Mary Bouzis and cherished sister of Angie, John, Nick, Demetrios, Merry, Deanna, and Butch. She is survived by her son, Blake, and was predeceased by her former husband and lifelong friend, Bob.

Chris was also a treasured aunt to Joan, Elizabeth, Michael, Kristyn, Rachel, Michaela, Annie, Bill, Katie, Mari, Jack, Ellie, Luke, Nick, Katie Jo, Tony, Jeff, Darla, Zachary, Nathan, Benjamin, Rebecca, Bradley, Kendrix, Silas, Jett, Macklin, Bill, Katalina, Owen, Marisol, Sophia, Katherine, and Rosalyn.

The Trisagion and Celebration of Life will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 14, 2025 at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home. The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 15, 2025 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
