Graveside services for Doug Daughters, age 77, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Winner City Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Friday from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at Mason Funeral Home in Winner.

Douglas Lynn Daughters was born on August 13, 1948, in Winner, South Dakota, to Robert and Erma (Springer) Daughters. He was the fourth of five children and grew up in Winner, where he graduated from Winner High School in 1966.

Doug attended Black Hills State College, earning his teaching degree in 1970. He began his career teaching in South Dakota and Wyoming before earning a master's degree in school administration from the University of Wyoming in 1978. He went on to serve as a school principal in three South Dakota communities.

On August 9, 1975, Doug married Darlene Kelly in Winner, South Dakota. Together they were blessed with one son, Kelly Lynn, born on December 16, 1978.

Doug enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, waterskiing, and hunting-activities that reflected his love of the outdoors and time spent with family and friends. As his health began to decline over the past twenty years, he found joy in following high school and college sports. He remained a loyal Winner Warrior fan, and in recent years also cheered on the Faith Longhorns, proud to support the school where his son serves as Superintendent. Doug was an avid South Dakota State University Jackrabbit fan, absolutely enjoyed attending the Summit League basketball tournament when it was held in Sioux Falls, and was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. During those years, he was deeply grateful to his caring neighbors who offered help when he needed it most.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Erma, and his sister, Virginia. He is survived by his son, Kelly Lynn; his brothers, Dennis and Kelly; his sister, Pat; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

Doug will be remembered for the quiet pride he took in his family and the kindness he showed to others.
