Howell Christopher "Chris" Delk, 70 of Hilda, SC passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Double Pond Baptist Church with Dr. Andy Sandifer, Reverend Dale Hutto and Reverend Donnie Delk officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from five to seven p.m., Friday, September 26th at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Town of Hilda Caboose Revitalization Project, P.O. Box 157, Hilda, SC 29813.

Born in Bamberg, SC, he was a son of the late Howell Wilmer Delk and Alice Still Delk. He was a graduate of Blackville-Hilda High School, North Greenville College, USC-Aiken and received his master's degree from the University of South Carolina. He was a beloved math teacher who had a substantial influence on students and the school community of Blackville and Barnwell. He was also a former assistant band director and coach. Teaching was not just a job for him, he truly cared for each student. He is remembered by countless students for his ability to inspire a passion for math. He also formerly worked as a local radio disc jockey and piano teacher. He was a life-long resident of the Town of Hilda, which was always near and dear to his heart. He was passionate about Hilda and always wanted what was best for the town. He served on the Town Council, was a former mayor and also was a part-time "second generation" Postmaster at the Hilda Post Office. Chris was a beloved brother, a cherished uncle, a treasured friend, a devoted Gamecock fan, a loyal public servant, and a humble servant of Christ. He truly never met a stranger, and he will be remembered for his witty personality and ability to make you smile.

At the time of his passing, he was serving as the pianist of Ghents Branch Baptist Church, a church family that he truly loved.

Survivors include his brother, Donnie Delk of Bamberg, SC; nephews, Matthew (Elizabeth) Delk of West Columbia, SC and Kelly Delk (Sara) of Midlothian, VA; nieces, Wanda (Dale) Bobbin of Conway, SC, Rose Ryals of Bath, SC, Amy (Tommy) McLellan of Cayce, SC, and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and Frank Elkins, a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Delk, a nephew, Jeff Elkins, and nieces, Cindy Eubanks and Angie Rutland.
