Christopher "Chris" Donald Joseph, 58 of Zanesville died at 7:02 AM Sunday, October 12, 2025 at the Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.
He was born November 29, 1966 in
Zanesville, Ohio the son of David "Dave" Lee Joseph Sr. and Shirley Kathleen Wise Joseph.
Chris was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and graduated from Bishop Rosecrans High School class of 1985. He attended The Ohio State University with studies in Sociology. He was employed by the Auto Zone distribution Center for many years. He spent the majority of his life as a musician, playing the drums with numerous bands, most notably with HB7. Chris considered all of his bandmates he played with over the years, as his own brothers. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals from childhood to his very last moment.
He is survived by his wife, Mindy Murphy Joseph whom he married August 24, 2002; two children, Emily "Emma" (Brady Queen) Joseph and Jordan (Madi Klinehoffer) Joseph; two brothers, Dave Joseph Jr. and Mike (Madison) Joseph; and a nephew, Mike D. Joseph; his mother and father in-law, Jeff and Maryann Murphy; his grandmother Shirley "SiSi" Murphy; numerous aunts & uncles including, Sharon and Walt Hambly, Diane and Larry Davis, Kathy Lackney, Susan and Jim Maxwell, Cheryl Lackney, Doug and Joyce Murphy, Terry and Julie Murphy, Becky and Lawson Atchison and Judge Bill Joseph and wife, Becky; numerous cousins; and the light of his life, The Golden Girls, his fur babies, Roxie, Daisy and Pepper. Special thanks to his lifelong friends and supporters, the Hardwick & Lynch families.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his aunts & uncles, Dee-Dee and Shag Grotegeer and Albert Lackney.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Burial will conclude at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Following the burial, a luncheon will be served at 12 noon at the St. Thomas Activity Center, 139 N 5th St,
Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Even if you do not attend the funeral mass, all are welcome to the luncheon to share your memories with the family.
