Matthew Christopher McDaniel, better known as Chris, died unexpectedly July 14, 2024, at age 54. While in Columbia he lived with his paternal grandparents and aunt. His grandparents were Carl McDaniel Sr., known by all as "Mr. Mac", and Lucille Ellerbe McDaniel. His aunt is Nink McDaniel. His fondest memories surrounded his grandpa's store, McDaniel’s Variety Store, hanging out with Aunt Nink and fishing on Lake Lafourche.
Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl McDaniel Sr. and Lucille Ellerbe McDaniel, Thomas Brown and Pearl Adams Brown; parents, Carl McDaniel Jr. "Buddy" and Brenda Brown McDaniel; several uncles and an aunt. He is survived by his husband, Shaun Kelly; son, Max McDaniel Shenikin; stepson, Caspian Kelly; brother, Carl McDaniel III "Carlos" and wife, Cassie; sister, Melissa McDaniel and spouse, Valeda Garside; special friend, Tyler Korth; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Chris graduated from Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport. After graduating from high school Chris moved to Birmingham, AL to live with Melissa. He then took several jobs in California and ultimately landed in the Seattle, WA area, where he was able to adopt his son as an infant with Brian Shenikin, and finally becoming an Airbnb Super Host. He took pride in his roll as a super host and keeping his properties running smoothly.
