Chris Sheehan, 61, of Walpole, died on Tuesday February 4, 2025 at Mass General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Maria Sellitto Sheehan for 34 years.

Born in Norwood, Chris was the son of the late John J. Jr. and Frances (Sullivan) Sheehan. He was a proud 1981 graduate of Norwood High School. Chris was a gifted athlete, recruited by Northeastern University for his exceptional running skills. He attended the university’s criminal justice program while also competing as a freshman on the varsity track team. His dedication and talent took him to the AAU Junior Olympics, where he raced in Lincoln, Nebraska, further solidifying his legacy as an outstanding athlete.

 A true family man, Chris cherished nothing more than spending time with his loved ones. He was deeply involved in his community, coaching Walpole Youth Football and Girls' Softball for many years. He was inducted in the Norwood High School Hall of Fame as part of the Football team that won the Superbowl against Brockton in 1980. Chris also valued his friendships, enjoying time with those close to him. He had a wonderful sense of humor. 

Chris began his career with Shred-It, which later became part of Stericycle, where he served as a National Account Manager for 20 years.

In addition to his wife, Maria, Chris is survived by their two sons, Marc S. Sheehan and Luke C. Sheehan, both of Walpole; a daughter, Olivia M. Sheehan of Walpole; two sisters, Kellie J. Miller of Walpole and Michele Stewart of Ridgecrest, CA; an aunt, Theresa A. (Sheehan) Holland of Mesa, AZ; and his mother-in-law, Antonia (DeBenedictis) Sellitto of Roslindale. He also leaves behind 15 nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins. His lifelong friends, Jack Greenwood, Phil Weber and Donald Whitney. Chris was predeceased by his siblings, Mark S. Sheehan and Tammy Pavadore.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 11 , at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole, followed by interment at Terrace Hill Cemetery, Walpole. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4-8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
