Chrise Lee Esckelson of Mayville, age 69, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at his home. Chrise was born August 16, 1954 in Flint, the son of the late Albert and Marie (Garner) Esckelson. On November 20, 2013, Chrise was united in marriage with the former Connie Slater. He worked for and retired from Local 324 Operators Union as a heavy equipment operator. Chrise loved his family, going for long rides on his Harley, and a good bologna sandwich with cheese, mustard, and butter. He could be found outside working most of the time, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Chrise was a kind, caring, loving, and simple man, and the best "pop pop" to his grandchildren.
Chrise is survived by his wife, Connie, whom he had been together with for eighteen years; six children, Robin Esckelson and her significant other, Randy Tolfree, Chrise Esckelson and wife, Ashley, Chelsay Osborn, Richard Osborn and wife, Ashley, Robert Osborn and wife, Courtney, Kristin Wheeler and husband, Victor; fifteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Victoria O'Neal; one brother, Ricky Esckelson and wife, Cindy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Izora McCoon.
Funeral services will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. with Mr. David Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Fremont Township Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family, c/o Connie Esckelson, 205 West Sherman St., Caro, MI 48723.
