He is survived by 4 children: Judy (Tim) Woern, Rich (Kathy) Esckelson, Bill Esckelson and friends Libby and Dorothy (Tim) Greenwood, a sister-in-law Betty Esckelson, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dick was the last of 9 siblings.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main Street, Vassar. Pastor Tony Barber will officiate with burial following at Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service begins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the wishes of the family.
