Christ Zogas

Christ Zogas, 95, of Roanoke passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Christ was born on July 22, 1929 in Reading, PA to Greek immigrants, Harry and Mary Kypriotis Zogas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Maronic Zogas; brothers, Peter and wife Clarise, and Gust and wife, Doris; sisters, Effie Stevens and Elizabeth Rogers.
Mr. Zogas served in the U S Air Force as an airplane mechanic and was stationed in Montana. He retired from Westinghouse after 50 years of service. Christ was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and was a long time member of Carilion Wellness –Roanoke. There he was a regular in cycle class and on the racquetball courts. He enjoyed helping others and made friends everywhere he went.
Surviving are his children, Robert Maronic, Sharon Maronic and Jeff Maronic; grandchildren and a brother, Theodore and wife Sylvia.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 30 Huntington Boulevard Roanoke with Fr. Theodore Lyketsos officiating. Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Diocesan Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 540-366-0707
