Christa Cooper Obituary

Christa Greenwood Cooper It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christa (Peterson) Cooper at IU Hospital West, on September 15, 2025. Christa was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 8, 1948 to Robert M. Peterson and Rosemary (Haviland) Peterson.

She was a graduate of Indiana University and Southport High School, where she graduated in 1966. Christa was a geologist, and worked for Amax Mining, then as a fine furniture salesperson, so she could devote more time to her family.

Throughout her life, people knew they could call upon Christa for answers to all manner of questions; she always knew the answer, or exactly how to go about getting an answer.

She is survived by her son, Chris (Tammy) of Brownsburg; daughter, Jennifer of Indianapolis; sisters, Gretchen Fucio of Greenwood, Erika (Mike) Frey of Franklin, and Elissa Peterson of Franklin; brother, Nels (Ginny) Peterson of Milford, OH; grandchildren, Nathan (Joanna), Reid, Hannah, and Noah; nephews, Matt Sutton and Eric Sutton; and nieces, Veronica (Jimmy) Ellis, Stephanie (Matt) Stricker, and Laura Fucio. We will all miss her terribly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM with eulogies at 6:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Greenwood, 335 S. Meridian Street, Greenwood, IN.

Christa will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Yesterday

I knew Christa Cooper only as Miss Marple at the AOS blog site, but she was a wonderful and special voice I listened to when I was dealing with health issues in my family. I am grateful that I had a chance to read her wisdom and wit and only wish I had had a chance to meet her when visiting my husband´s family in Indianapolis. I will be praying for you all for comfort at such a loss. She will be missed by people like me very much.

Miss Marple, as she was known to her online community, was a frequent and knowledgeable contributor. Her presence was so valued and her loss is greatly felt. Heartfelt condolences to her family.

I am so saddened yet relieved to learn of the end of the suffering and passing away of my on-line friend Christa Cooper. She had such a broad perspective on so many areas of life, from geology to the disappointments of local Indiana politicians and just about everything else under the sun. May her soul rest in peace and may her son and daughter be comforted in the loss of their wonderful mother.

Christa was active online under the handle "Miss Marple". I'm one of many in her online community who never met her in person but will miss our daily "conversations".
