Christa Marie McDaniel

Christa Marie McDaniel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 8, 2024, in Panama City, FL. She was born on January 21, 1972, in Panama City, FL, to Jimmy O'Neal and Mary Ellen Gortman. Christa's life was marked by love, resilience, and devotion to her family and her faith. Professionally, Christy dedicated 23 years of her life to Gulf CI where she served multiple roles and made many lasting friendships. Later, Christy worked at Wewahitchka High School, where she will be remembered for encouraging her kids in their faith and helping them push through the toughest time of their lives. Christy was dedicated for many years to her community. She was a member of the Wewahitchka Women's Club and attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God. She is preceded in death by her father, Jimmy O'Neal Gortman; her brother, Joe Gortman; her paternal grandparents, Lester and Verna Gortman; and her maternal grandparents, Woodrow and Mary Stokes. She is survived by her loving husband, David McDaniel, and their two sons, Hunter (Rachel) McDaniel and Hayden McDaniel; her mother, Mary Ellen Gortman; brothers, Victor (Debbie) Gortman and Scotty (Laura) Gortman; sister, Rena (Greg) Drake; grandson, Hayes McDaniel; and special daughter, Trudy. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Christa's life will be held Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm (CST) at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Wewahitchka, FL with Reverend Joey Smith and Hunter McDaniel officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives from 1:00 pm (CST) until service time at 2:00 pm (CST). Interment will follow at Jehu Cemetery in Wewahitchka. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
