Christel Mount Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory - Great Neck Chapel on Jan. 6, 2026.
Christel Gisela Ursula Glaubke Carila Mount, 84, was called home by her Lord Friday, December 26, 2025, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
She was born July 22, 1941, in Lubezin, Germany, and emigrated with her family to America at the age of 11. Christel resided in Virginia Beach, in the same home she had dwelt in for more than 60 years. Christel had been retired from Signet Bank, which is now Wells Fargo, as head drive-thru teller and top salesperson for products and services she knew, through the many conversations with her customers, they needed. Prior to that, she worked as head front-end cashier for Pantry Pride grocery stores.
Christel was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Missouri-Synod, in Virginia Beach, since 1968. During those years, she served as Trustee, and volunteered her time making Braille material for the blind and vision impaired, bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to elementary school-age children (Good News Club), and feeding those in need in her community through Meals on Wheels.
Christel is survived by her three sons, Randolph A. Carila (Heather) of Stanardsville, VA, John A. Carila, of Virginia Beach, VA and Earnest A. Carila, Jr. (Yolanda) of Merritt Island, FL; three grandchildren, Heather Carila (Reuben), Krista Carila, and Ryan Carila (Laura); four great grandchildren, Braydin and Annabelle Walton, and Cayden and Declan Carila; and a sister, Ute Meyer (Larry) of New Bern, N.C.; and many nephews, nieces and cousins, both in the U.S. and Germany.
Viewing will be held from 10 am -11 am, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (424 King's Grant Road, Virginia Beach, VA, 757-340-8420), followed by a Celebration of Life service, and then a brief meal.
Interment will be be conducted at Princess Anne Memorial Park in a private, family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prince of Peace for memorial contributions, or in support of its Braille and Good News Club missions, or to Meals on Wheels.
