Daquantai Shane Thigpen

Daquantai Shane Thigpen, 26, of Virginia Beach and Norfolk, peacefully fell asleep in death on January 12, 2026, and remains in Jehovah's memory.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Kristi Croft-Cary, and her husband, Jaycee; his brothers, Michael Jr. and Treyvon; his grandmother, Kathi Driscoll, and her husband, Jim; his great-grandmother, Dorothy Likens; his aunt, Becki Grimes, and her husband, Brian; his uncle, Mark, and his wife, Carolyn; his cousins, Kynzi, Kobei, Samantha, Ashley, and Haileigh; along with many dear family members and friends.
Shane loved hiking, going to the beach, and camping. He shared an especially close bond with his dog, Mossy, who was truly his best friend for nearly nine years and often accompanied him on all his adventures. Shane's ideal start to every morning was a drive to the store for fresh-baked chocolate cookies-a simple pleasure that got him motivated for the day ahead.
Shane was full of love and always willing to help others in their time of need-even strangers. Straightforward by nature, he valued truth, seeking facts and logic in all things. A skilled electrician, Shane was a hard worker from the age of 14 and took pride in working with his hands, enjoying fixing, improving, and upgrading homes. He had recently begun exploring the possibility of starting his own contracting business, looking ahead with determination and hope.
A visitation service will be held at Hollomon-Bown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel on Friday evening, January 16th, from 5 to 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made as contributions to your favorite animal shelter, honoring Shane's love for dogs.
