James William Corzatt

James (Jim) William Corzatt, 79, passed away on January 6, 2026, after complications from pneumonia. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes Corzatt, and his brothers Richard Corzatt and John Corzatt. Left to cherish his memory is Denyce, his wife of 39 years, his brother Cliff (Diane), his sister Claudia (Alan), his sister Mary, his sister-in-law Terry (Scott), his brother-in-law Tracy, his former sister-in-law Julie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In high school, Jim was a competitive athlete in football, wrestling, and track. Jim's love of track led to many years with the Tidewater Striders competing in races, triathalons, and marathons. Jim's four-year service in the United States Navy included tours aboard the USS America and the USS Independence. This service in the Navy led to his passion for travel with his wife, Denyce, both in the USA and abroad. Denyce and Jim were married on November 15, 1986 at First Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach where Jim was an elder and also a member of the choir and a steadfast supporter.
Jim joined The Frieden Agency (now Frieden Wealth Management) in 1988 and dedicated the next 30 years of his career to the firm before retiring. An extraordinary financial planner, he helped countless families and businesses grow, preserve, and protect their assets with integrity and care. Jim earned the professional designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and was consistently recognized as a top producer both locally and nationally. Among the many firms he partnered with over his three decades of service was John Hancock Financial Services, reflecting the breadth and respect of his professional relationships.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from six to eight p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place the following morning, Friday, January 16, at First Presbyterian Church at ten o'clock followed by a reception. A committal service will take place at Princess Anne Memorial Park at two o'clock.
