A Celebration of Life will be held near his home in Weldon Spring, MO, on Saturday, April 13. More information will be posted on Facebook.
Christian John Peterson was born September 23, 1970, in Ames, IA to Pete and Brenda Peterson. He was their third child of four; he was a brother to Debbie, Natalie and Aaron.
Chris started elementary school at Roland Elementary in Roland, IA. The family relocated to Manson, IA where he completed the rest of his schooling and graduated. Chris was involved in football, basketball, baseball, and track in junior and senior high. He also managed his way into school musicals and chorus.
After high school, he attended Iowa Central College for a year and then Iowa State University. He graduated with a degree in Ag Business. Go Cyclones!
He worked in the Financial Aid Office in Beardshear Hall. This is where he spotted and met Dana Paulsen (from Garner, IA). It was love and he married her shortly thereafter. They have been married for almost 32 years.
Their first house, first job, and first child came in Atlantic, IA. Life and work took them to many places. Grand Island, NE; Aurora, NE; Memphis, TN and their second child; Ames, IA; Story City, IA; Owatonna, MN and their third child; O'Fallon, MO; Jakarta, Indonesia; Weldon Spring, MO; Polk City, IA; and Weldon Spring, MO. Although they traveled and lived in many places, it is St. Louis that they call home. Chris ended his career as the U.S. Head of Sales for Bayer Crop Science. Chris had many colleagues who became friends in his many years of work.
Chris loved hosting pool parties over the summer and family over 4th of July. He was happy to grill dinner and breakfast on 1 of 3 of his grills! He attended many St. Louis Cardinal games.
Chris was generous and always helpful. He would mow people's lawns, cook for others' parties, help set up or tear down or whatever was needed. He loved to hunt and fish with family and friends. Whether it was near home or out of state. He also enjoyed traveling with Dana and his family to Mexico, the Bahamas, Europe, and to various places in the U.S.
Chris had a knack for talking to people, inquiring about them, checking in on them, and making them feel cared for and loved. He mentored many with a phone call or text. Many nieces and nephews felt he was a mentor and father figure to them.
If you knew Chris, you knew his obsession with having a pen at all times. Please bring your favorite pen and attach a memory to it. His briefcase will be open so you can leave it at visitation.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Larry (Pete) Peterson; his grandparents Lyall and Lavon Brown, Carl and Ida Peterson; and his mother-in-law, Lynn Peterson.
Chris is survived by his wife, Dana; his children, Carlee, Cade and Kenzie; mother, Brenda Peterson; sister, Debbie (Doug) Markert; sister, Natalie (Tim) Rolow; brother, Aaron (Julie) Peterson; father-in-law, Roger Paulsen (Carol Showalter); and sister-in-law, Tina (Steve) Antle; as well as his 11 nieces and nephews, and 4 great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, you can make a memorial donation for Cancer or Alzheimer's research. Chris had loved ones impacted by these diseases and he donated to their cures.

Chris was always an engaging and supportive friend. When talking about a new job or about a college experience, his intense look and big grin made it clear he was so proud of every accomplishment each of his friends had made. He made sharing stories a time to remember. He deeply shared our joys and triumphs.
