Christina Yannakis nee Mavrakakos a beacon of love and faith who left us on July 2, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on April 27, 1931, in the historic town of Mystra, Greece. Christina's journey led her to Chicago, IL. Then in 1986 to Dunedin, Florida, where she passed away peacefully.
Christina was the cherished matriarch of a family that spans generations. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ioannis Yannakis.
Her memory will be treasured by her daughters, Katerina (Konstantinos) Marinakis, Eleni and the late (Ruben) Roberto. Christina's vibrant spirit lives on through her five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was a loving sister to her siblings: the late Ioanna Yannakis, Dimitra and the late (Nikos) Spiridakos, Ilias and the late (Maria) Mavrakakos, and the late Efstratios (Evangelia) Mavrakakos.
She was a beloved aunt to her many nephews and nieces, who she cherished dearly. Her family who will continue to be guided by her wisdom and warmth.
Though Christina's primary role was that of an immaculate homemaker, her impact extended far beyond the walls of her home. She was a woman of profound faith and fiercely loyal to those she held dear.
Christina's interests reflected the rich tapestry of her Greek heritage. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as tending to her garden and immersing herself in Greek novels. Her connection to her roots was evident in her everyday life, and she instilled a sense of cultural pride and tradition in her family.
Friends and family remember Christina a devoted daughter to Eleni and Christos Mavrakakos, a wife, a sister, a Thea and a YiaYia. She was loving, faith-filled, and funny-a woman whose laughter and kindness filled every room. Her presence was a comforting embrace to those fortunate enough to know her.
Today, we say farewell to a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to the power of love and faith. Christina Yannakis will be profoundly missed, but her legacy will continue to flourish within the hearts of those she touched. May her memory be eternal.
