Christine Elizabeth Bauer, born on May 13, 1953, in Drumheller, Alberta, passed away peacefully in the arms of Jesus on September 22, 2025, in Cochrane, Alberta.
Christine devoted her career to educating young minds as an elementary school teacher, serving communities in Cereal, Botha, and Breton, Alberta. Her commitment to nurturing and championing the children in her care inspired countless students to believe in their potential and strive for a brighter future.
A proud alumnus of the University of Alberta, where she earned her Bachelor of Education, Christine carried the values of education and compassion throughout her life. Known for her generous spirit and loving nature, she often opened her heart and home to others, forging lasting friendships and making connections that brought joy to many.
In her leisure time, Christine found delight in hobbies such as crewel embroidery and cross-stitching. She enjoyed long walks and Volksmarching, cherished moments spent with family, and looked forward to evenings of cards, games and movies. Gathering over dinner with a glass of wine was a treasured tradition, reflecting her love for social gatherings and camaraderie. Especially with her extensive family and supported by her beloved cat companions.
Her sense of community extended beyond her family and friends; Christine was a member of the Alberta Teachers Association and involved in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cochrane, as well as the Dorcas Circle of Peace Lutheran Church in Leduc.
Christine is survived by her loving siblings, Len (Moira) of Winnipeg, MB, and Tim (Corina) of Cochrane, along with her sister-in-law Deb of Sylvan Lake, AB. She was a special aunt to Ken and Trevor, Daralee and Tamarea, Karl and Grant, and will be remembered fondly by many aunts, uncles, cousins, former colleagues, and dear friends.
Predeceased by her parents May and John, her brother John, her infant niece Tracey, her grandparents James and Christina Pliva and John and Elizabeth Bauer, and other family members who have passed before her, Christine now reunites with them in heaven.
A memorial service to honor Christine's life will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cochrane, Alberta. The service will begin at 2:00 PM, welcoming all who knew and loved her to celebrate her impactful life and enduring legacy.
