Christine Padgett Davis, The Matriarch of Hugs at Peavine Baptist Church, age 98, of Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Lorenzo Padgett and Zora Brooks Padgett in Dekalb Co., AL, had lived most of her life in Northwest Georgia area and was the oldest current member of Peavine Baptist Church. Christine and her husband, LeRoy were known for the BBQ they hosted on July 4 for more than 16 years. It was an event that started as a gathering for their immediate family and turned into a community celebration. She was a loving and devoted Christian Lady, who enjoyed her time with her family, her church family, and many friends. Christine was also preceded in death by her husband of more than 63 years, LeRoy Davis; son Jimmy Lee Davis; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers. She is survived by her children, Sandra Davis Kay Thompson, Kathy Davis Patrick, LeRoy Davis, Jr. and his wife, Alisa Davis; daughter-in-law, Jimmie Davis; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Peavine Baptist Church, with Pastors Denny Patrick, Nathan McCoy and Jeremy Elam officiating. A private family interment will follow the service. The family will receive friend from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday and from 10:00 am until the service time on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Peavine Baptist Church, Building Fund in Ms. Christine's name. The family would also like to thank the doctors and staff at NHC Fort Oglethorpe and Caris Hospice for the love and support during this difficult time. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home-J.
